We Are All People, and Golfers Too
We are avid golfers and are committed to providing a friendly, supportive, and above-all, “fun” golfing environment.
Outside of golf our members enjoy travel, volunteering, hiking, running, art, photography, pets and many more fun activities. Conversations around the lunch table are never boring.

When Do We Play?
Enke Women’s Golf Association (“EWGA”) plays on Wednesday mornings from the first Wednesday in November through the last Wednesday in April. Outside of our league year many of us play year-round on a casual basis. We are always looking for new members to join our league. You’re welcome to play every Wednesday or whenever your schedule permits.
Cost to Play
We have a short application for new members to fill out prior to joining. Please click here to go to our "Join Us" page to fill out the application.
Our dues are $45 for a full season (November through April), or $25 for a 4-month season (January through April, typically used by winter residents) and a $45 handicap fee assessed by Arizona Golf Association (for January through December). There is an optional $10 fee to join Southern District Women’s Golf Association (for January through December). Dues are due by September 30th of each year, or upon joining for new members.
Handicaps
You will need a GHIN number and maintain a handicap. If you do not have a GHIN number, one will be obtained for you upon joining. Have questions about handicaps? click here
During league play, at the end of each round, score cards are collected by the tournament chair and scores are entered into the GHIN system using Golf Genius software. Outside of league play, you are responsible for posting your own scores whenever and wherever you play to maintain an accurate handicap.
The Fun Stuff
Our tournament chair organizes fun golf games to be played each Wednesday. Points are given to the winner(s) of each game. At the end of the season, money is distributed to players based on points earned during the season and can be used at any Tucson city golf course to purchase merchandise or pay for greens fees.
By Friday of each week, our tournament chair e-mails all members asking whether you will be playing on the following Wednesday. Responses are due back to the tournament chair by Sunday. The pairing for Wednesday’s groups, along with tee times, are sent out by Monday.
We usually have lunch together after our round on Wednesdays.
EWGA Specific Rules
- Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your tee time
- We have all levels of golfers in our group and welcome players of all skill levels. We do expect that each member play ready golf, finishing each round in 4 to 4.5 hours. Fred Enke is a walkable course and we have many players who walk the course.
- EWGA plays in conformity with USGA rules of golf. However, there are a few ‘local’ rules, that have been adopted for the course.
- One that comes up frequently is that all areas off the ‘maintained grass’ are considered red stake penalty areas. This means that you can hit your ball from where it lies with no penalty. OR you can place your ball within 2 club lengths, no closer to the hole, on the maintained grass, take a one-shot penalty and continue playing.
- Another is free relief is provided from rocks with wire mesh, which includes penalty areas.
- There are many desert areas surrounding the golf course and we observe the 3-minute time limit in searching for an errant ball.
